My collection of old jeans is growing. As well as jeans that me and my family have worn out I’m now collecting them from other people as well! I have various projects on the go that use denim including my textile pots and now cushion covers, and perhaps in the future some embroidered jewellery a bit like these but using denim.
I’ve got several ideas for the cushion covers using different fabrics, trimmings and embroidery. Here are some photos of the work in progress. (Click on images to enlarge).
While looking for all things denim I discovered the work Marilyn Glinka. Some of her wonderful books are bound in recycled denim. You can buy them from her Etsy shop Emgie Libris. Lucy Portsmouth is a supreme quilter and I love this cushion cover that uses all sorts of snippets of reclaimed fabric including denim.
Here are a few denim hand made creations that I found on Etsy and Folksy - denim rug, cushion cover, shoulder bag, denim dog and flower clip.
This yo-yo coverlet is a great denim project from the always inspiring Purl Bee.
Thank you!! Old denim is such a wonderful medium to work with – so soft but still so durable 🙂
Hi Madeline! What beautiful work you make. I love your fabric pots including denim. So many unique and wonderful ways to transform old jeans into something new 🙂 Thank you for mentioning my rag rug cushion!
