Embroidery has been an interest of mine for a long time. I think my early interest came from a curiosity about “the olden days” and a romantic desire to make samlpers. When I was a bit older my mum gave me a Good Housekeeping book about embroidery and I made a sampler at about this time that hangs on my bedroom wall. The book itself I still have and use.
I am currently working on some small scale embroidery pieces, these embroidered pendants and some monogrammed pendants that I will be running a workshop about at Creative Open Workshops. And for this Autumn season I am also still making embroidered leaves. However, I am feeling the need to make something on a larger scale and perhaps a return to something sampler-like.
For an inspiring embroidery blog check out feeling stitchy and for lots of lovely embroidery photos have a look at pinterest (blimey I could stay there for hours).
oh i love the sampler – perhaps we could have a little sampler group and make some on a theme. when we’ve got nothing else to do maybe, in about 20 years! or maybe january?
Lovely idea about a sampler group….yep, I think just the thing for January x
