watching, reading, looking at

I’ve been watching Spike Jonze’s film “Where The Wild Things Are“. We went to see it at the cinema when it came out but I love revisiting the film. It seems to fit perfectly with this time of year, the quality of light in the film, the snow and bleak beauty of the landscapes and the air of melancholy.

There is a gorgeous making of book for the film “Heads On and We Shoot“, it includes lots of production pictures and on set photos. I bought this book for my partner who is also a big fan of the film (he wrote a great review, here).

I read Maurice Sendak’s book “Where the Wild Things Are” when I was a child and I bought it for my own children who are now fans. Another Sendak book that I also really liked as a child was “In The Night Kitchen”. Here’s a reading of the book by James Gandolfini with illustrations from the book.

Hello Meeni, too poorly to speak on the phone right now so I thought I would send you a message to say that I was watching Amelie this afternoon and I thought of you. The world of Meeni is as wonderful as ever -‘troppo bella’ as the Italians would say.

Lots of love, your friend, Roberta Stellon.
