Today is Midsummer’s Day and I’m wondering where the Summer is. Last year wasn’t brilliant either but at least my garden looked more summery and the roses were in full bloom. The roses in my garden are only just coming in to flower and I’ve hardly sat out in the garden at all because it’s been too cold and wet.

I am longing for some warm sunshine so I can sit or potter in the garden and I do love to sit and listen to the sound of swifts calling to one another on a balmy Summer evening. All the photos in this post were taken this weekend and although there was a little bit of sunshine yesterday it rained all night and the garden was very soggy this morning with the slugs and snails out in full force.
A local event, the Bearwod Shuffle, got moved to an indoor location today as the organisers didn’t want to risk having to cancel it again due to rain. We shuffled on down, met up with some friends and enjoyed some live music, a good way to spend Midsummer’s Day, not having to worry about the weather. And wouldn’t you know it as I write this post the clouds have cleared and there are a few swifts sweeping around.

One of my favourite blogs has posted about Midsummer and Midsummer preparations, so evocative and inviting.
