I always feel a bit sad taking down the Christmas decorations and find that at this time of year I need something to brighten up the dull days. Apparently Christmas decorations used to stay up until 2nd February (Candlemas) so this year I decided to have some ‘New Year’ decorations. I have a few fairy lights that stay up all year, always good for dark days and parties, and I’ve also left the paper doily snowflakes on the front window (at least for a while). In addition I’ve made some paper snowflake ‘chains’ to adorn some shelves in the sitting room and put up paper balls in the front room. My big sis gave me a pot of hyacinths for Christmas and these are also adding colour and sweet fragrance to the front room.

Surprisingly I didn’t receive a calendar for Christmas so I decided to make one for the house using my own photos. I do like turning the pages of a calendar to reveal a new image/artwork for each month (and a calendar is a must to keep me and the family organised). I did get a calendar with my Mollie Makes magazine subscription and this is brightening up my new studio (more about the studio soon)Â along with a paper chain from new magazine Homemaker.

I like your calendar idea, your own photos are much better than any other ones, they always can bring back nice memories if you choose right ones. Need to copy that idea very soon 🙂
I think this year was the first year in my life that I didn’t take Xmas decorations down, my kids did it and I don’t feel the same, next year I will have to help them, but I like to keep my Christmas Tree dressed up until Epiphany, but yes we used to keep it much longer 🙂
