These past few days there has been lots of snow cheering me up in this month that I often find tricky. As we haven’t had to travel anywhere the snow hasn’t caused us any problems, we’ve just been able to enjoy it. We’ve been sledging in the park, the kids have played out with the other kids in the neighbourhood having snowball fights and skidding around and I’ve baked snowflake cookies (as if there wasn’t enough snow!) It has felt like a bit of a holiday.

Last year we started a tradition of Wassailing the fruit trees on our allotment. We did it at night time last year but this year we wimped out a bit and went while it was still light. This didn’t stop us having a small fire (who knew fire looks so good against snow), making a bit of a din singing a Wassail song and dousing the trees with cider.

Me and my daughter composed a little Wassailing song. I’m planning on doing a proper recording with various instruments and singing but this might take me a while. In the meantime here’s the chorus, recorded today with a view out of our attic window towards my studio and out to the allotments.
