Today I found out that my button has arrived safely in Macclesfield for The Button Project. The Button Project is planned as “A stunning exhibition of contemporary handmade buttons that will go on show alongside the silk costume collection at Macclesfield’s Heritage Centre this June. Running from June 14 – August 8 the exhibition will be launched at Barnaby, the town’s summer festival of art and fun, and will showcase work by artists and makers from across the UK, and even beyond.”
I decided that I wanted my button to reflect my work and also the theme of the Barnaby Festival, Metamorphosis. I hate to throw any scrap away and my button is a transformation of tiny pieces of fabric into a functioning and decorative piece.

It is made from denim, cotton and silk with delicate hand embroidered details and has a brass ring loop at the back for fastening.
I have a small collection of buttons myself and do like organising them in jars and tins. They are just waiting to be used in some project or other.
