This past week I have been a bit poorly having caught a tummy bug off my son. I’ve not done much but loll around but towards the end of the week, when I was feeling a smidge better, I needed a bit of comfort viewing and I watched the 1970 film The Railway Children.
I loved this film and the books of E.Nesbit when I was child and spent many hours playing games based loosely on the characters and plots of these stories. We used to travel by train to visit my grandma and grandpa and this fitted right in to my ‘railway children’ games. The fantasy worlds I created as a child were often based in an imaginary past time that owed quite a bit to the film of The Railway Children and the illustrations in my E. Nesbit books.

Hope you are feeling better,I do love watching films when not feeling to well, older the better..my favourite film is the old black and white “Wuthering Hieghts” I have been Cathy many times while playing..
Nearly better thank you. So good to escape into a film….These special films take on many layers of meaning for me.
Dearest Meeni,
I was showing your beautiful website to a friend and found out that you had been unwell. I hope that you are feeling better. I hope, too, that my postcard from the Venetian island of Burano arrived ok… Last night I went to Gifford’s Circus. It is very special and you would love it – you really would. I wil send you some information about it. I hope you get well soon.
Lots of love, Nini Lopez xx
