Last week I shared a tutorial for bead and wire valentine’s hearts and this week I have another tutorial for heart decorations. These are easy peasy and would be a great crafting activity for kids.
Equipment & materials
pipe cleaners
yarn
beads
ribbon
scissors
glue
Technique
Select the beads you want to use. I used 11 vintage wooden beads of different colours and sizes.
Thread the beads onto a pipe cleaner, mixing up shapes, colours and sizes.
Shape the pipe cleaner into a circle, twist to join at the top and form a loop. Then shape the circle into a heart by squeezing into a point at the bottom of the circle and making a dip at the top. Arrange the beads irregularly around the heart shape.
You could leave the heart like this and just add the ribbon tie or wrap the heart with yarn. To wrap start at the hanging loop and work your way around the whole shape and the beads. Use a small ball of yarn rather than a full ball (as this won’t fit through the centre gap).
To finish off glue the loose end of the yarn to secure, allow to dry and then attach the ribbon to the hanging loop.
