september days
The long, lazy days of Summer may be over but I always feel quite excited in September. This is ‘New Year’ for me, a time of new beginnings, new projects and possibilities.
My ‘new’ shed went up on the allotment today, it just needs painting now and a few other finishing touches. My garden studio is becoming more of a reality too with a site survey completed and a design chosen. It’s also a time of harvesting on the allotment. My allotment hasn’t been super productive this year, but I did win first place for my cake in the annual allotment competition!

And although Autumn is definitely on it’s way, some leaves are changing colour and the nights are drawing in, there are also still some remnants of Summer. The echinops in my garden have been covered in bees and there are late roses at the allotment.

working on new paintings
I am currently working on some new paintings. I wanted to make a keepsake piece for my sister’s birthday and try out some new ideas. I usually work on canvass or paper but for these new pieces I’ve been working on plywood.
I love layering details and using collage techniques so I have used photographs, vintage wallpaper and antique papers from my collections. I have also experimented with stencilling as well as hand painting details.
